Fireheart - Devlog #5 - Companions and Ranks


Hello everyone!

It is quite some time since my last devlog and a few changes happened during this time.
Last time I talked about Companions and Rarity. 

I wanted Companions to have a rarity tied to their strength. 

Epic Companions would have been more rare then uncommons (kind of obvious but I just wanted to clarify my intentions).

Since then I changed quite a few things about the system.

While I still wanted to have a system showing how strong a Companion would be with different tiers. I also felt like that "rarity" would not tie well with the idea I had for Companions.

So I changed it to a "Rank System". The ranking in Old Stories: Fireheart is an important part of the world I want to create.




As you can see, before hiring Companions you are able to see their stats and their rank.
Ranks are tied to the level so for example someone at level 4 will have a Common rank while someone at level 11 will have a Silver rank.

Companions also have a maximum potential. 

Simple soldiers for example have a maximum potential of level 9 and cannot get stronger once they hit their peak.




Here is an example of how a full party could look like.

As a player you are also able to level up and reach a certain level and rank. 
I want to encourage the player to rank up and so I am thinking of adding a Quest Board where the player will be able to start missions after achieving a certain rank.



The player will be able to see his rank in the Overview Menu.
