Fireheart - Devlog #6 - Quests
Hey everyone!
In this devlog I am going to talk about the Quest System I am currently working on and some thoughts I had for it.
So I had to start to work on a Quest System eventually after I had pushed it back a couple of times.
To my surprise the monthly free assets for the Unreal Engine provided a really advanced Quest System which is really great, you should check it out.
I tried my luck on it and it is really easy to implement but I had some personal problems with it.
I do not know if it was my fault for being to dumb or not but I had some problems with the UI which I could not really change to my taste.
So I thought, that I make my own small Quest System. One which I built from the ground and one I can fully understand.
There are 4 different Quest types I had in mind and 3 which I already have implemented:
1. Kill Quests where when you accept the quest an enemy will spawn and which you are able to kill and gain gold/experience.
This is an example of a Kill Quest. Please note this is still in development and things can and will change.
Another example for a Kill Quest.
2. Vista Quests where you have to reach a point to get the rewards.
Here is an example for a Vista Quest.
And the other two quest types are boss killquests and gather quests.
The Icon on the top left will also be displayed somewhere on the map as an icon to show you where you objective is (for all quests).
Once you finish your quest you will get your rewards directly and you will not have to walk back to the NPC which gave you the quest.
You will need a different ranks for different quests.
You can start Quests with a requirement of a common rank from the very beginning but you would need a silver rank for a quest with silver requirement.
The level on the quest panel indicates how tough the enemy/quest is.
